I have a mobile template for my blog, which you can see if you browse to http://wafwot.com on your cell phone.

I have a mobile admin template for my blog, which you can’t see bitches.

Since I don’t check my regular email account from my phone, sometimes comments go unmoderated for a day or more, (yeah, I suck). So, I wrote this dirty little plugin that will send me a text message as soon as anyone leaves a comment on my blog. It doesn’t have a lot of error checking, I could make it easier to add more carriers, and I could localize the text. But I’m busy (read: lazy) and didn’t feel like devoting even more time to something so trivial.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Download the plugin below.
2. Unzip in your /wp-content/plugins directory.
3. Activate the plugin on the admin page.
4. Set your phone number and carrier on the options page.
5. Have a toke and a smile, you’re done!

If everything works out well, you’ll get a text message whenever anyone leaves a comments on blog posts. The text messages are very short and contain no links like the normal email notifications that Wordpress will continue to send. This is just meant to let you know about new comments while you’re commuting home from work, humping the neighbor lady, or camped out on the Throne of Constipation.

One final thought. Don’t blame me if you’re wildly popular and text messages are keeping you awake at night. Either don’t use this plugin, or use a quieter SMS ringtone. I also take no blame if your blog database craps its pants. Why aren’t you making backups? I tested this on my Wordpress 2.6 blog, and everything works great. All bets are off for backwards compatibility.
