Cars suck. Now I have three broke-dick cars, and all three suck ass. The Mustang‘s front suspension is busted, and the left front tire is really towed in a bit. The LTD still has a fuel delivery problem. I have a carb rebuild kit for it, but there’s so many parts to it, I’m afraid to tackle that project. And finally, the transmission on the Lumina is so bad it won’t even move out of idle speed when I press the accelerator.
I started a Chipin Event to raise some cash to fix the transmission of the Lumina. It’s in beta testing now, and I know one of the developers… so I thought I’d give it a try since I have a real need. I simply invited people from my addressbook… and was amazed at the people who chipped in! It’s nice to know people care and are willing to help. My faith in humanity might just have some hope after all. To those that have chipped in so far, thank you very much. If you want to chipin, let me know.
How come the list command in Linux doesn’t have an “ignore symlinks” switch? If you have a directory with a few files and several symlinks, it’s pretty hard to see just the files. I have to use some construed concatenation of commands to list just files: ls -al | grep -v @ | grep -v \# Maybe I’m picking fly shit from the pepper, but this seems like a no-brainer switch that should exist, but doesn’t. I know, it’s open source and I could make a switch myself… but I’m lazy, and I don’t wanna.
Our new VoIP phones at work still don’t work. They were assigned to us, but we haven’t been able to plug them in. We’ve come up with some other uses for our VoIP phones: wheel chock and door stop
I got a new VPS account at Spry at a really good discount. I know a couple of people that work there, and they’re testing a new system based on OpenVZ. Nice system, really quick and easy. 500 GB of bandwidth, 20 GB of storage, 3 IP addresses, running Debian Linux. I’ll be moving my domains over to the new account over the next few weeks or so.
