It may have been only 5 years since Tool released Lateralus, but it seems like 10,000 Days! Sorry for the pun. 10,000 Days is the name of the new Tool album due out May 2. I don’t want to say I’m looking forward to the new CD, but I’ve had it pre-ordered on amazon.com since March 20, when it was called “Audio CD; Tool TBD”
The first single, Vicarious, was released Monday, and it sounds fucking awesome! By Tuesday, someone has given me a link to the entire CD, which was leaked! Tool is somewhat famous for releasing “fake” tracks and info in an effort to frustrate pirates. But, what I downloaded sounds like Tool, and the vocals sound like Maynard. I still have the CD ordered (with next day shipping, thank you), but I’m enjoying the songs I downloaded, even if they’re not Tool… and I think they are.
The first time I heard all 11 tracks, Vicarious, Jambi, The Pot, Rosetta Stoned, and Right in Two stood out as great tracks. The whole CD sounds amazing. It’s great to finally have new Tool music!
