It was dark, cool, raining, and breezy on the way home Firday, which is typical Pacific Northwest weather for July oddly enough. Because of the dreary weather, I had the parking lights on while driving home. I stopped at the grocery store before heading home so I didn’t have to drive this weekend. My plan worked out well. Maybe too well. I left the parking lights on by mistake when I got home (c’mon, it’s a 1968 Mustang… there are no idiot buzzers). By not going anywhere all weekend, the battery was good and dead come this morning. I needed to get a ride into work… so I called Leigh. He starts his day at 9am and was able to give me a lift into work.
Of course, today has to be one of the busiest Mondays in a long time. An upgrade Sunday in a large neighborhood network we control didn’t go very well, and many customers were still without their fiber-based Internet this morning. On top of that, one of the support techs that would normally be answering the phone was “transferred to” (read: “stolen by”) the Redmond office. We seem to be hemmorhaging techs at work. Every few weeks we’re training another one…
Since I was an hour late thanks to my stupidity, I stayed an extra hour, leaving at 6pm. Rick gave me a lift back home. For some reason, the day just seemed to drag along. I guess it’s because I started at 9, had lunch at noon, then stayed until 6. I’m used to 4 hours before lunch and 4 hours after. Today was 3 hours before lunch, and 5 hours after.
