Yet another of the stray kittens in my backyard have found a new home, this time with the sister of a co-worker. This cute grey and white female kitten was a lot more calm than her grey sister, and didn’t seem to mind being in the pet carrier. She meowed a bit, but it wasn’t so heart-breaking. She laid down in pet carrier, her feet tucked under her chest, and her eyes half closed… like she was going to take a nap.
It’s another warm day in the Pacific Northwest. This seriously out-of-focus shot from my phone shows the temperature at a sweltering 88°F in my office at work. I didn’t realize I worked in a sweatshop, but’s beginning to make sense; low pay, ticket quotas, and actual sweating! I kid. No, really, I kid. I’m looking forward to going home where the temperature is probably about five degrees cooler.
Well, Tina and I found a home for one of the stray kittens that have claimed the backyard as their own.
One of the guys I work with adopted the grey kitten. He went to the store and picked up some new cat stuff, including a wind-up clock so the kitten can hear the ticking and hopefully feel a little less lost without her mother.
Tina put the kitten in the pet carrier, and the kitten started to meow. It was the saddest little meow. It just broke my heart to hear her calling for her sisters and mother. But, I know she’s going to a good home, and she’s much better off being taken care of in a home then living in my backyard, fending off tomcats and visiting german sheppards.
It will seem odd not seeing her at the backdoor, waiting for food, warm milk, or just wrestling with her siblings in the grass…
