So, I pulled into the parking lot at the pet store and saw they had part of the storefront boarded up. Before I walked in, I thought the pet store may have been doing some remodeling. When I saw the damage inside, I thought someone may have tried to break into the store. I was wrong on both accounts.
Some elderly woman in a Honda drove up onto the sidewalk and smashed into the building! The employees say it was the loudest noise they ever heard. They watched as the woman backed away from the building and “finished parking.” She got out of her car and walked into the store. The employees thought she might apologize for hitting the building and ask to call the police. Nope. She wanted fish. She asked for tropical fish!
The police were called, and the storefront was boarded up. There’s approximately $16,000 in damages to the building, and over $3,000 in inventory loss. The pet store used the area of store where the damage was caused as part of their fish tank showroom. Several high-end tank were smashed.
Update: I was browsing the web site of the local newspaper, and they had an article about this accident.
