Today I had a little fun with a voicemail that’s been passed around the office. One of our support technicians called in sick early in the morning one day a while back, leaving voicemail on our phone system.
Now, I run a private ICEcast music server in our office from my Linux workstation. Employees connected to our company’s intranet in both our Oak Harbor and Redmond offices can connect and listen to the stream of mp3 and ogg files.
One of our other support technicians recorded the “sick tech’s” voicemail into an mp3 for me to play on the stream. I was more than happy to oblige. I even announced over our internal jabber server that there was a special song request queued up on the music stream. That of course brought requests for the stream address. More listeners. Yes!
When the mp3 started playing, the “sick tech” yells across the office, “Very funny, Jim!” That started an uproar of laughter from everyone else in the office. It was followed up by a comment in our jabber groupchat, “JIM IS A BASTARD RIGHT NOW!” It was hilarious! Victory is mine!
Jim you are a bastard for putting that in the music rotation!
